This Was The Lord’s Doing; It Is Marvelous In Our Eyes
Each day after an 8 hour or so period of rest, our conscious lives begin again. Every day there are questions waiting to be answered. When do we get up? What do we eat? What do we wear? Where do we go? When do we go? Endless and so familiar, we sometimes speed through the decision making process without even thinking.
Today, I’m adding more questions to your daily list. Do you know what day it is? Will you answer that ...today is Mother’s Day? Will you answer that today is May 12, 2013? Or will you answer that today is the Lord’s Day? more...
On The Twenty Fourth Day Of The First Month
A long time ago, an elderly man stood on the bank of a mighty, rushing river. He had been fasting, and no doubt was very broken and humbled. Being broken was probably nothing new for him. He had been a prisoner of war for most of his adult life. He had been forced to learn how to live in a nation that was not his own. But his faith in God always remained unshakable, even when he faced certain death at the hands of his enemies. For 60 some years, his testimony of faith and wisdom had influenced ruling kings as well as fellow prisoners in exile. Because of his witness, the current king had just given him and his fellow exiles permission to return to their homeland.More...
MY ANCESTOR WAS A WANDERING ARAMEAN
This picture brings back memories of my ancestry. My grandmother, Earie Stiles, loved showing off the firstfruits of her garden. She is pictured here with her grandson, Ernie Stiles, who still looks forward to fresh garden fruits every year. (But I think he likes them a whole lot more when they're from someone else's garden!)
God loves those firstfruits, too. In fact, God’s calendar revolves around times of harvest. more...
3500 years ago, in the ancient land of Egypt, God gave detailed instructions for all those who trusted Him. Following His instructions would bring life. Ignoring them would guarantee death.
On the 10th day of the Hebrew month of Abib, also known as Nissan, each family was to select from their flock a year old lamb, without any flaw or defect. It was to be kept until the 14th day of the month, giving the family an opportunity to become personally attached to the lamb. It would not be just any lamb. It would be their lamb.. more...
A FRONT ROW SEAT TO THE RESURRECTION
(Resurrection Sunday Morning "Sonrise" Service looked extremely doubtful as we battled dense fog and rain at 6:30 am this morning to make it to the top of the dam by 6:45am. We moved the service to a co...vered pavillion, and the rain just stopped! As we were singing and worshipping God, the clouds just seemed to part to let the "Son" thru! And receive Him, we did! This post is the message we shared together.) more...
The month of Abib is designated by God Almighty as the first month of the year. "And the LORD spoke unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it sh...all be the first month of the year to you." Exodus 12:1-2. The name of the month is given in Deuteronomy 16:1, where the Israelites are told to keep the Passover in the month of Abib, because they were delivered from the 10th death plague of Egypt on that very day by God Almighty. Along with all the wonderful pictures of Jesus as our Passover Lamb, our Unleavened Bread, and our Firstfruits, many other amazing anniversaries occur during this month.. more...
NEVER AGAIN CHRISTIANS! WHAT WE DO MATTERS
The United States Congress established April 7-14 of 2013 as Days of Remembrance to commemorate the memory of the victims of the Holocaust. April 8 is Holocaust Remembrance Day.
In 2009, the US Holocaust Memorial Museum designated "Never Again: What You Do Matters" as the focus. more...
On our calendar, today is the 4th month of April, the 7th day of 2013. We know this because since about 1600, most countries have marked January 1 as the first day of the year. However, it wasn’t offi...cial in Italy and England until around 1750. more...
On God's calendar, today is the 13th day of Adar, a memorable day in the history of the Bible. (Using the vernal equinox as a reference point, and the new moon following as the first month of God's year) On this day, about 2500 years ago, the Jewish nation, once a mighty and formidable nation serving one God, was destined for final annihilation by their enemies. more...
When I was preparing to visit the Holy Land with my father in 1998, my excitement level was max. I could hardly believe I was making the trip. I literally pinched myself over and over again. When our plane touched down in Tel Aviv, my heart was thumping ninety miles a minute! Then, I began to observe some things I wasn't quite prepared for. There we sat in our plane, alone, in the middle of this huge expanse of concrete. I hardly had time to take it in before we clambored down dozens of tarmack steps, were whisked into vans, and quickly transported to the main airport building, surrounded by mounds of more steps. When I entered the airport, I was surprised to see guards and guns everywhere. Uh-oh, my excitement was fading fast.more...
In 1885, a Swedish preacher, named Carl Boberg, wrote the poem "O Store Gud". Translated into English it reads "O Great God". Someone began singing it to the tune of an old Swedish melody. more...
